Photography is a amazing thing….the ability to capture a moment in time with a click of a button! I have alway loved taking photos, I had a disposable camera when I was a kid for family vacations, and one of my favorite classes I took in college was photography…I could get lost and spend hours in the dark room, I love walking the streets of a town I’ve never been and take photos of buildings and old signage…and of course taking nature photos when I’m on hikes.

And photography has an important part in history when it comes to our protected lands and National Parks….When I was at Crater Lake last summer, I I went to one of the night time ranger talks at the campground (I love these!) and they spoke about how photographers would take photos of Crater Lake, Grand Canyon and Yosemite (jus too name a few) and send these photos back to Washington DC….and with the help of John Muir and Roosevelt these photos helped pave the way for these places to be National Parks….DID YOU KNOW that the government at the time of Roosevelt wanted to fill the Grand Canyon with water and make it a reservoir?…Crazy to think….

These days we all have a camera, and we seem to capture everything! People seem to almost view life through their iPhone….and as much as I love to take photos and creating a memory….i do make a point to:

Not miss the moment by trying to capture it….

Sometimes its best to put the camera or phone down and just live in the moment…if its meant to be remembered it will stay with you…i promise : )

I’m the guy who would rather take 10 photos of a waterfall at different angles and vantage points and enjoy the rest….I’m glad I forget to bring my camera out when things just naturally happen….my first instinct is to watch and enjoy…not capture

With all the being said I purchased a new digital camera for my travels!!!…haha

I’m still learning how to use it…but having some fun doing it….here are a few of my favorites from the first couple months of traveling….

enjoy—
